The 2022–23 season was Al-Nassr’s 47th consecutive year in Saudi Arabia’s top football division and their 67th as a club. Competing in the Pro League, King’s Cup, and Saudi Super Cup, the season spanned from 1 July 2022 to 30 June 2023.
A historic moment came with the signing of Cristiano Ronaldo, widely regarded as one of football’s all-time greats. The Portuguese superstar joined on a two-and-a-half-year contract through 2025, earning a record-breaking €200 million per year, the highest salary ever paid to a professional footballer. Ronaldo’s arrival catapulted Al-Nassr’s global profile, with the club’s Instagram account skyrocketing from 860,000 followers to over 10 million within a week of his signing.
On the pitch, Al-Nassr finished as runners-up in the Pro League. They reached the semi-finals of both the King’s Cup and the Super Cup, but were eliminated by Al-Wehda and Al-Ittihad, respectively. Rudi Garcia led the team until April, after which Dinko Jeličić took over as interim head coach. Talisca emerged as the season’s top scorer with 20 league goals and 21 in all competitions, playing a pivotal role in the team’s campaign.
