The 2005–06 season was Arsenal’s 14th Premier League campaign and the last at Highbury before moving to the Emirates Stadium. The team finished fourth, overtaking Tottenham on the final day, and became the first London club to reach a UEFA Champions League final, losing 2–1 to Barcelona. Patrick Vieira departed, and Thierry Henry assumed the captaincy. Key signings included Alexander Hleb, Emmanuel Adebayor, and Theo Walcott. Arsenal also reached the League Cup semi-finals and staged a campaign titled “Highbury – The Final Salute” to honor their historic ground.
