Aston Villa’s 1999–2000 season delivered another strong sixth-place Premier League finish, despite a mid-campaign slump in which a nine-match winless run dropped them to 15th before a 12-game unbeaten surge lifted them back up the table. They reached their first FA Cup final in 43 years, ultimately losing 1–0 to Chelsea in the last match played at the old Wembley, and also made it to the League Cup semi-finals.
The campaign featured debuts for several players, including George Boateng, David James, and Benito Carbone, while Dion Dublin finished as both league and overall top scorer.
