In 2010–11, Atlético Madrid, managed by Quique Sánchez Flores, finished 7th in La Liga, won the UEFA Super Cup, reached the Copa del Rey quarter-finals, and exited the Europa League in the group stage despite entering as defending champions. It was their first season without Pablo Ibáñez since 2003–04. Sergio Agüero was the top scorer with 27 goals in all competitions.
