Japan 2014 – Home Shirt

Japan competed in the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil, but their campaign ended in the group stage. Drawn into Group C alongside Colombia, Greece, and Ivory Coast, Japan managed just one point from their three matches, a 0–0 draw against Greece, while losing 2–1 to Ivory Coast and 4–1 to Colombia. As a result, they finished bottom of the group and were eliminated without advancing to the knockout rounds.

The team was managed by Alberto Zaccheroni, who had led Japan to the 2011 Asian Cup title prior to the World Cup. Their top scorer in the tournament was Keisuke Honda, who scored Japan’s only two goals, one in the opening match against Ivory Coast and another against Colombia. Despite the disappointing campaign, Honda stood out as Japan’s most influential player.
