The 2006–07 season marked Liverpool’s 115th year and 45th consecutive season in England’s top flight. Managed by Rafael Benítez, the club competed in five competitions: the Premier League, FA Cup, League Cup, UEFA Champions League, and the FA Community Shield. They secured a 3rd-place finish in the league and began their Champions League journey in the third qualifying round, eventually reaching the final but finishing as runners-up.
Domestically, Liverpool exited the FA Cup in the third round and reached the League Cup quarter-finals. However, they started the season on a high note by winning the FA Community Shield. Peter Crouch was the season’s overall top scorer with 18 goals, while Dirk Kuyt led league scoring for the team with 12.
