The 2018–19 season marked Liverpool’s 127th year and their 57th consecutive in the English top flight. Under Jürgen Klopp, they finished second in the Premier League with a remarkable 97 points, losing only once—to champions Manchester City. This total was the highest ever for a runner-up and included an unbeaten home record. In Europe, Liverpool triumphed in the UEFA Champions League, overcoming a 3–0 first-leg deficit against Barcelona with a stunning 4–0 win at Anfield before defeating Tottenham Hotspur 2–0 in the final, securing their sixth European crown.
Domestically, they exited both the FA Cup and EFL Cup in the third round. This was their first full season without Philippe Coutinho and Emre Can. Mohamed Salah was the overall top scorer with 27 goals, while he and Sadio Mané each netted 22 in the league. The campaign is widely regarded as one of Liverpool’s greatest despite narrowly missing out on the league title.
