Liverpool’s 2023–24 season marked their 132nd overall and 62nd consecutive in England’s top flight. Competing in the Premier League, FA Cup, EFL Cup, and UEFA Europa League, they finished 3rd in the league and won the EFL Cup. Virgil van Dijk became club captain following Jordan Henderson’s departure, with Trent Alexander-Arnold named vice-captain.
The season saw a significant midfield overhaul with the arrivals of Alexis Mac Allister, Dominik Szoboszlai, Wataru Endō, and Ryan Gravenberch.
It was a year of farewells, notably being the last under manager Jürgen Klopp, who announced his departure mid-season. Liverpool won their 10th League Cup on 25 February 2024, beating Chelsea 1–0 with a late goal from Van Dijk. Despite hopes for multiple trophies, they exited the FA Cup and Europa League in the quarter-finals, both to eventual winners. Mohamed Salah was the top scorer with 25 goals in all competitions.
