The 2013–14 season was a historic one for Manchester City, as they secured their second Premier League title in three years. Under manager Manuel Pellegrini, City became the fastest team in Premier League history to score 100 goals in all competitions, achieving this feat before January. They finished the season with a total of 102 league goals, the second-highest total in Premier League history at the time, just behind Chelsea’s 2009–10 record. The team also had three players Yaya Touré, Sergio Agüero, and Edin Džeko each scoring more than 15 goals in the league.
In the UEFA Champions League, City reached the round of 16 for the first time but were knocked out by Barcelona. Domestically, City won the Football League Cup, their first trophy in the competition since 1976, and clinched the Premier League title with a 2–0 victory over West Ham United on the final day. This marked the first time City won two trophies in a season since 1969–70. Sergio Agüero finished as the club’s top scorer with 28 goals across all competitions, while Yaya Touré led in the league with 20 goals.
