Portugal enjoyed a historic 2025 season, marked by both a change in identity and continental glory.
After over 27 years with Nike, the Portuguese Football Federation ended its partnership with the American brand and signed a long-term deal with Puma, unveiling their first kits under the new sponsor in early 2025. On the pitch, Portugal’s Nations League campaign was a resounding success. They advanced past Denmark in the quarter-finals, powered by a goal from 40-year-old Cristiano Ronaldo who continued to defy age and expectation. In the semi-final against Germany, Ronaldo struck again, netting a crucial equalizer that helped secure a 2–1 win.
The final, held in Munich on June 8, saw Portugal face longtime rivals Spain. In a tense and emotional clash, Ronaldo once again delivered, scoring the equalizer in a 2–2 draw that went to penalties. Portugal ultimately triumphed 5–3 in the shootout, securing their second UEFA Nations League title and becoming the first nation to win the tournament twice.
