The 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa marked a historic moment for the Spanish National Team, as they achieved their first-ever World Cup victory. Under the management of Vicente del Bosque, Spain entered the tournament with high expectations, boasting a talented squad featuring stars like Iker Casillas, Andrés Iniesta, Xavi Hernández, and Fernando Torres.

Spain was placed in Group H alongside Switzerland, Chile, and Honduras. Their campaign began on June 16, 2010, with a shocking loss to Switzerland, where they fell 0-1 in their opening match, causing doubts about their title aspirations.

However, Spain quickly rebounded in their second match against Honduras on June 21, securing a 2-0 victory thanks to goals from David Villa. They followed this up with another win against Chile on June 25, winning 2-1, with Villa once again finding the net.

Finishing second in the group, Spain advanced to the knockout stage, where they faced Portugal in the Round of 16. On June 29, Spain delivered a masterful performance, winning 1-0 thanks to another goal from Villa.

In the quarter-finals on July 3, Spain faced Paraguay and emerged victorious with a 1-0 scoreline, with a crucial goal from Torres. The semi-finals saw them up against Germany on July 7, where a powerful header from Carles Puyol sent Spain through to the final with a 1-0 win.

The final, held on July 11 at Soccer City Stadium in Johannesburg, saw Spain take on the Netherlands. After a tense match, Andrés Iniesta scored the decisive goal in the 116th minute, leading Spain to a 1-0 victory and securing their place in history as World Cup champions.
