The 1998–99 season was a successful one for Aris Thessaloniki, as the club finished sixth in the Greek Alpha Ethniki with 60 points from 34 matches, recording 19 victories, three draws and 12 defeats. Under the guidance of Alketas Panagoulias, Aris established themselves among the strongest sides outside Greece’s traditional leading clubs, scoring 53 goals throughout the campaign. Their impressive performances included victories over AEK Athens and local rivals PAOK, while Apostolos Liolidis was among the team’s standout attacking players.
