Chelsea’s 2010–11 season saw them begin strongly as defending Premier League champions under Carlo Ancelotti, leading the table for much of the first half before a difficult winter run dropped them to a second-place finish. Despite conceding the joint-fewest goals in the league, their campaign ended without silverware, accompanied by early domestic cup exits, a Champions League quarter-final run, and Ancelotti’s departure.
The season was also defined by major January signings, including the record-breaking £50 million arrival of Fernando Torres and the addition of David Luiz, while Florent Malouda and Nicolas Anelka finished as the club’s top scorers.
