In Sir Bobby Robson’s first full season as Newcastle manager (2000–01), the team finished 11th in the Premier League, comfortably avoiding relegation but falling short of European qualification. The club had a mixed run in domestic cup competitions, exiting the FA Cup in the third round and the League Cup in the fourth round. Carl Cort and Nolberto Solano were joint top scorers in the league with 6 goals each, with Alan Shearer contributing 7 across all competitions.
