Panathinaikos, led by manager Vasilis Daniil finished 3rd in the Alpha Ethniki during the 1998/99 campaign. The club reached the Greek Cup final ending as runners-up, and took part in the UEFA Champions League, though without advancing deep into the competition. Nikos Liberopoulos was the team’s top league scorer with 13 goals.
