The 1998–99 season was Paris Saint-Germain’s 29th season in existence. The season saw changes in both the presidency and the managerial staff. Charles Biétry served as president until December 22, 1998, after which Laurent Perpère took over. PSG had a turbulent managerial situation, with Alain Giresse in charge until October 8, 1998, followed by Artur Jorge until March 13, 1999, when Philippe Bergeroo assumed the role.
In Division 1, PSG finished 9th. In the domestic cup competitions, they were eliminated in the Round of 32 in the Coupe de France and reached the quarter-finals of the Coupe de la Ligue. However, they were successful in the Trophée des Champions, winning the trophy. In European competition, PSG was knocked out in the first round of the UEFA Cup Winners’ Cup.
Marco Simone was the team’s top scorer with 9 goals in the league and 10 in all competitions.
