The 1992–93 season was a disastrous campaign for ACF Fiorentina, ending with the club’s relegation to Serie B after finishing 16th in Serie A. It was a chaotic season marked by managerial instability, with four different managers—Luigi Radice, Aldo Agroppi, Luciano Chiarugi, and Giancarlo Antognoni—failing to turn the team’s fortunes around.
The low point of the season came in a humiliating 7–3 home defeat to eventual champions AC Milan, a result that epitomized Fiorentina’s defensive frailties and lack of cohesion. Despite the team’s struggles, Gabriel Batistuta shone as a lone bright spot, scoring 16 goals in Serie A and 19 in all competitions, cementing his status as one of the league’s top strikers.
In the Coppa Italia, Fiorentina fared no better, being eliminated in the Round of 16, capping off a season to forget. The relegation was a major blow to a club of Fiorentina’s stature, and the focus shifted to rebuilding in the second tier and plotting a swift return to the top flight.
