Atletico Madrid 98/99 – Home Shirt

During the 1998–99 season, Arrigo Sacchi was sacked in February with Atlético struggling in La Liga and the UEFA Cup quarter-finals. Interim manager Carlos Sánchez Aguiar led them briefly to the UEFA Cup semi-finals, where Radomir Antić then took over. Antić guided the team to the Copa del Rey final but suffered a heavy 3-0 defeat to Valencia. League form remained disappointing, and Atlético were eliminated by Parma in the UEFA Cup semi-finals. Though they qualified for Europe through the Copa del Rey, the season marked a decline in Atlético’s prominence in Spanish football.
