The 2003–04 season marked a transformative period for Chelsea F.C. after Roman Abramovich purchased the club in July 2003, ushering in an era of significant financial investment. Managed by Claudio Ranieri, Chelsea finished second in the Premier League and reached the UEFA Champions League semi-finals, where they were eliminated by AS Monaco (5–3 on aggregate). Domestically, they exited the FA Cup in the fifth round against Arsenal and the League Cup in the quarter-finals to Aston Villa. Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink was Chelsea’s top scorer, netting 18 goals in all competitions.

The 2004–05 season was José Mourinho’s first in charge of Chelsea, and it was a historic one as the club won their first Premier League title in 50 years and the League Cup. Chelsea set numerous Premier League records, including 95 points, 29 wins, and conceding just 15 goals, with 25 clean sheets. They spent heavily, adding players like Didier Drogba and Ricardo Carvalho. In Europe, Chelsea reached the Champions League semi-finals but were knocked out, while they exited the FA Cup in the fifth round. Frank Lampard was the top scorer with 19 goals.
