The 2012–13 season was Paris Saint-Germain’s 43rd in existence and 40th in France’s top flight. Under Carlo Ancelotti, PSG won their first Ligue 1 title in 19 years, finishing as champions with two matches to spare. Zlatan Ibrahimović, their star signing alongside Thiago Silva and Ezequiel Lavezzi, led the league with 30 goals and scored 35 in all competitions. David Beckham joined in January, playing the final matches of his career.
PSG topped their Champions League group, highlighted by a 4–1 win over Dynamo Kyiv. They reached the quarter-finals after eliminating Valencia but were knocked out by Barcelona on away goals following a 2–2 draw in Paris and a 1–1 draw at Camp Nou. Domestically, they reached the quarter-finals of both the Coupe de France and Coupe de la Ligue but failed to advance further.
Despite a slow start, PSG dominated Ligue 1, claiming the title after a decisive 1–0 win over Lyon, with Jérémy Ménez scoring the crucial goal. Beckham’s farewell match and a 3–1 win over Brest saw the club lift the trophy at the Parc des Princes, completing a transformative season for the team.
