In the 1993–94 season, PSG, led by Brazilian playmaker Raí, claimed their second Ligue 1 title, going unbeaten in 27 matches, a record for Division 1. They also recorded their biggest-ever victory, a 10–0 win over Côte Chaude in the Coupe de France. However, their league-cup double aspirations were halted by Lens in the quarterfinals.
In Europe, PSG made a historic run in the European Cup Winners’ Cup. They defeated Real Madrid 1–0 at the Bernabéu, becoming the first French team to win there. However, they were knocked out in the semifinals by Arsenal. Despite a 1–1 draw at home, PSG lost 0–1 in London after Artur Jorge controversially left top scorer George Weah on the bench, leading to his dismissal and the appointment of Luis Fernandez as manager.
David Ginola was PSG’s top scorer with 13 goals in Ligue 1 and 18 in all competitions. Under Fernandez, PSG were poised for a brighter future after a season of highs and lows.
